What is brow lift?

This refers to the surgical procedure of lifting the eyebrows to give a more youthful and aesthetically pleasing appearance.

Who requests a brow lift?

People who have drooping eyebrows giving them a 'tired' or 'sad' look.

Sometimes it is performed in people with damage to the nerves of the face which causes an asymmetrical droop of the eyebrows.

How is it performed?

There are two techniques (open and endoscopic) In the open technique, an incision is made behind the hairline running from ear to ear. The skin is lifted up and muscles freed to lift the brows. The wound is closed with stitches

In the endoscopic technique, small short incisions are made behind the hair line and via the help of an endoscope (an instrument with a small camera) the tissues are freed. The wound is closed with stitches.

When can I wash my hair?

You can wash your hair after five days

What kind of anaesthetic is used?

It is usually performed under a general anaesthesia.

How long is the hospital stay?

Usually an overnight stay

How long do I take off work?

A week to two weeks will suffice for most patients
